April
2007
Welcome to
our April newsletter. The start of the summer season is almost
upon us and for the past couple of months we have been busy with
the launch of our new website which we hope you will find
informative and easier to search for your ideal home on the
island. There is still some work to be done on the website, but
please feel free to contact us for information and guidance on
any property or on any aspect on purchasing a home on Corfu or
Paxos.
Apart from
our main office in Corfu town, we have now extended our presence
on the island with two new branch offices - one located in St.
George on the North West of the island and the other on the NE
Coast in Apraos, between Kassiopi and Acharavi. This month we
will be featuring a selection of properties that can be viewed
with our representatives in the North, North West and North East
of the island. For the full listings of properties all areas
please visit our website
www.cpacorfu.com .
Wherever you
are looking for property on the island we are here to help and
guide you and we look forward to seeing you soon.
ST GEORGE
OFFICE - NORTH WEST CORFU
Our new area
office in the North West of the island is based in St. George,
Pagi (not to be confused with a resort of the same name located
in the south west of the island). Arrangements can be made for
you to view properties from this office in the North West of the
island right round to Roda and its inland villages.

Located
approximately 35km from Corfu town and the airport, the resort
of St. George is a horseshoe shaped bay which lies between high
rocky headlands. With its fantastic sandy beach, it is a great
place for families with young children or those of all ages
wanting a relaxing holiday yet being close to amenities. Behind
the resort there are endless olive groves and wooded hills – a
great area for exploring on foot. For a more lively night out,
Sidari is a 20 minute drive away so whatever you’re looking for
in a holiday home St. George and its surrounding areas have
everything to offer.
Close to St.
George are numerous traditional villages just waiting to be
explored, the two closest being Pagi and Afionas.
About 2km
inland and travelling south of St. George is Pagi (spelt Pagoi).
Pagi is a small hillside village which lies on the side of a
wooded valley. From here, you can take a drive up to Prinilas,
continue to Makrades and the road will eventually lead you
through Krini, Lakones and down to Paleocastritsa. Views along
the way are stunning. Other in-land villages are Arkadades,
Dafni and Valanio to just name a few.
To the north
of St. George, is the village of Afionas. It is perched on a
headland looking down on St George Bay to the south and the open
Ionian Sea to the north. Afionas offers a magnificent view of
the whole bay and surrounding hills right across to the distant
cliffs/headland behind Paleokastritsa. Looking northwards from
the village, the views along the North West coast are stunning -
taking in the nearby small islands of Kravia, Sikia and Gineka.
Travelling
beyond Afionas you will find the areas of Arillas, St. Stephano
and eventually Sidari. Not forgetting the inland villages of
Kavadades, Magoulades and Velonades and Agrafi to name just a
few.
Further on
from Sidari, passing the sandy beach of Asteraki you reach the
resort of Roda. There are many inland villages where you will
find a variety of properties for sale, Karousades, and Nymfes
are just two of these.
SELECTION OF
PROPERTIES IN NW CORFU:
APRAOS
OFFICE - NORTH EAST CORFU
From the
start of the season our new office will be open and from here we
can arrange for you to view properties from Acharavi right down
to Nissaki. The office is set on a slight hill overlooking the
sea in Apraos approximately half way between Acharavi and
Kassiopi. Apraos is in the area of Kalamaki which is a long
sandy beach (1.5km in length).

Acharavi, in
the north, is an all-year round town with a large variety of
amenities – shops, supermarkets, bank, chemists etc, nor
forgetting the beautiful sandy beach - about 3km in length.
Inland from Acharavi are the villages of Agios Panteleimon and
Agios Martinos.
Moving east
around the coast towards St. Spiridon, you will pass the Lake of
Antinioti – the lake/lagoon covers around 100 acres and
is the home to many fish, mammals, amphibians, rare birds, and
wild flowers. This is a nature reserve and has been designated a
protected area.
From St.
Spiridon, there is easy access to Perithia, then the hillside
village of Loutses and finally ‘old Perithia’. Old Perithia lies
about 700m above sea level. The village was once the capital of
the Municipality of Kassiopi and was extremely wealthy. Today
visitors can wander around the deserted village which has the
ruins of 9 churches and many Venetian style buildings.
Moving down
the coast you will find Kassiopi, a fishing village which has
become a very popular tourist resort. The hillside above the
village and the olive groves just south are the home of many
exclusive private villas. Driving south of Kassiopi you will
find the seaside resorts/villages of Agios Stephanos, Kalami &
Kouloura, Agni, Nissaki and Kaminaki. Inland from these resorts
are numerous traditional villages – Porta, Loustri, Kendroma,
Katavalos and Viglatouri.
The NE coast
has, in particular become an exclusive area on the island with
excellent opportunities for investment.
